On March 1, 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched Shueisha Manga-Art Heritage.
Based on the concept of passing on the art of manga to the next generation, we have sold over 1,300 works worldwide.
However, only the handful of people who purchased works have been able to see what a manga art print looks like.
The Manga Art is linked to Startrail PORT, a certification service that uses blockchain technology. An exhibition will be held at the SRR Project Space (in Shimokitazawa) operated by Startbahn, Inc., the provider of the Startrail PORT service.
Manga Art will be exhibited and sold at the venue for three months.
During the exhibition, the plates used in the printing process will be on display along with the art prints, and the printing process itself will also be shown.
In addition to holding talk shows, we will hold NFT-related events.
Is manga art? Is it something else?
Or perhaps, in a country where artists like Keiichi Tanaami have said they've wanted to be manga creators since they were children, we may be asking the wrong question.
It may be that art is one component of manga.
In Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, you will see the true value of art prints,
something that cannot be conveyed through a screen.
